Residence: ShiroganePersonalityYlfa (not her forest name which is known only to her) was young, naïve, headstrong, and passionate in her ventures. She had an enthusiasm for charity, generous with her time and resources and only desired to help people. Frustrated with the traditional and reclusive Viera lifestyle, she left her home with philanthropic ambitions. She soon became disillusioned with her endeavors, discovering the nobility were anything but noble. Realizing the world is cold, avarice, and self-serving, she now struggles with an emergent anger and resentment. Though she is an outcast, she portrays sophistication and refinement as she seeks out ways to undermine those who use their affluence for self-serving aspirations. Seemingly sweet and well mannered, few actions will provoke her bitterness which should not be underestimated.StrengthsAnalytical: Ylfa’s work as a purser improved her analytical skills. She’s able to analyze data and make interpretations that are useful to planning a company’s future and protecting their interests. It is unknown where she obtained her administrative skill sets. Oddly, documentation similar to Ylfa’s style has been found tying dubious types to criminal activity. Whether she had any involvement is unknown.Driven: With every goal Ylfa reaches, she sets a bigger goal to focus her pursuits. Focused on the objective and not deterred or distracted by materialism, she can be relied on to accomplish a task to its fullest, while also exuding a contagious passion that motivates those around her.Patience: Having become an outcast, Ylfa has nowhere to go and all the time in the world to get there. She will take her time contemplating and considering the best approach, allowing her to exercise self-control and precision.WeaknessesNaïve: Ylfa is clever but still naïve in many ways. She has traveled to some areas of Othard and the Far East and even less locations in Eorzea. Unfamiliar with many customs, traditions, and the local ruling class, Ylfa can find herself in situations where she lacks the insight to make a proper decision, or may make matters worse.Overthinking: Ylfa’s analytical habits often cause her to overthink certain situations. Coupled with the emotional strain of her backstory, it is difficult not to ruminate on the past. She can’t help but mistrust even herself at times. This may cause her to be indecisive, especially under pressure.Rigid: When Ylfa gets something in her mind she can be downright stubborn. She is typically not judgmental, generally keeping an open mind about individuals; however, she is very opinionated especially when discussing natural order. In some situations it may be difficult to persuade her to see things differently.
BackgroundYlfa loved her birthplace within the Golmore Jungle where she developed a profound understanding of nature. She appreciated the natural laws the jungle revealed. Efficient, disciplined, and deeply multifaceted. Order layered on chaos, order within the chaos, and a cold ruthlessness toward anyone or anything that violates the complex balance. Enthralled by this system, she developed a dedication to preserving the judiciousness of natural law rather than a devotion to her role as a steward of the forest.Though Viera are rarely involved in matters outside their native land they are not ignorant of the outside world and Ylfa was aware of the hardships other races endured. She considered violating the Green Word at a very early age desiring to travel and help ease the hardships of others through charitable work. She loved the forest but could not accept the reclusive and non-interventionism policies of the Viera. Knowing there were communities and lives in disarray made her spirit anxious. Ylfa also developed a shallow contempt for men stemming from Viera traditions. The few Viera men that existed were only present every few years. Her elders explained the men were the “protectors of the forest”, but Ylfa believed the women were at the core of the Viera lifestyle and the forest’s functionality. Women were the keepers of the forest, maintaining dwellings, removing vermin, and working with the land.Upon leaving the jungle she traveled northeast from Golmore through Nagxia and to the lands of Yanxia where she visited the Kingdom of Doma. Garlamald’s presence was felt abundantly throughout Yanxia, a situation familiar to Ylfa as the Garlean Empire occupied Dalmasca decades ago, but the Soldiers there rarely encroached upon the jungle. Within Doma, years of occupation and failed rebellions created substantial hardships. The Garlean Empire oppressed and harassed the Domans regularly as a constant reminder that rebellion would not be tolerated. Over taxing and grueling labor left the populace in poverty and poor health. Ylfa worked to gain acceptance and volunteered to help Domans build up their communities and maintain crops, but she recognized there were political and financial powers in the region that could alleviate many issues on a larger scale.She traveled from Yanxia to the nation of Hingashi in hopes to further understand the region and seek opportunities for others in need on their behalf. There she learned the Bakufu established a strict isolationist policy, allowing trade through the port town of Kugane but refusing all other support to other nations. She was able to connect with Kugane high-society very quickly, as they were willing to pay simply to be seen with a Viera due to Viera’s rare presence. This began her introduction to the venality of the upper class. The rich and influential were only interested in increasing their influence. Merchants were only interested in contracts, not contributions. The realization left her stunned. She left her home accepting an outcast’s fate only to realize she was wrong about the world and her goals were seemingly unachievable. Dejected and emotionally devastated, Ylfa began formulating a plan for survival in exile. She understood the bulk of wealth across Eorzea and the Far East was concentrated in the lucrative shipping industry and started seeking jobs on ships traveling between Hingashi and La Noscea.Ylfa is in a state of unremitting personal discord, constantly weighing the value of the ends and means. She values goodwill, but desires to see order in its perfect state as at is in nature. As she meets new merchants, dealers, and contractors, she sometimes finds herself working with people of questionable standards. As coincidence would have it, many of those individuals have been detained by local authorities for various reasons, be it bribery, fraud, or extortion, sometime after they have concluded their business with Ylfa's employer. And some are just never heard from again.
RP HooksTrade and Shipping Industry: Inherent of the matriarchal Viera, Ylfa was drawn to tasks that keep the woods organized and healthy, she found herself a natural Purser for any of Kugane or La Noscea's many privateering or merchant vessels that would hire her. As such, she pursues employment as an administrator managing cargo, passenger manifests, money, stores, supplies, etc.Supplanter: She may have also used her duties to manipulate, deceive, and incriminate persons in lower-level government or mercantile industry whom she believed displayed authoritarian tendencies, though nothing can be proven. Do you suspect she implicated a former employer, acquaintance, friend, etc? Or maybe you have a target in mind.Humanitarian Adventures: Still feeling bound by her original benevolent motivations, Ylfa enjoys journeys with charitable ends though her actions during these adventures may not be considered benevolent of themselves. If the end result helps people or communities, she is interested in contributing her skills, whether it require exploitation or “pest” eradication she learned from her jungle upbringing.

I'd prefer to have fun rather than fret over grammar and style.I am US based, Central Time zone, with a very unpredictable schedule. One week I may be active a few hours each night, another week I may only login for a short time. If we find ourselves in a long-term story, I will communicate any changes in schedule. I will communicate if I'm not comfortable, running out of time, or do not feel we're going in the same direction.
